ISA Videos Aimed at Planning & Codes Professionals

ISA Videos Planners

ISA Videos PlannersThe International Sign Association (ISA) now offers educational videos which the sign industry can share with their communities. The first animated video, which runs less than three minutes, provides an overview on measuring sign area.

“This video series has been designed specifically to provide an overview for planners and codes professionals,” said Kenneth Peskin, ISA manager of state and local government affairs. “We have purposely kept the topics brief, so that perhaps sign companies can show them during public comment periods at governmental meetings. This is not designed to provide every detail, but to convey that there are many factors involved.”

The sign area video appears at www.signs.org/videos. Other videos in the series, which will roll out over the next few months, include factors that affect visibility, sign height, and sign orientation.

The videos are just one element of the educational services ISA offers for the planning community. ISA, in conjunction with The Signage Foundation and local sign associations, provides daylong training sessions including certification maintenance credits through the American Planning Association.

In addition, webinars throughout the year provide APA credits. Peskin and James Carpentier, another manager of state and local government affairs, routinely travel the country to work with member companies and their planning communities on codes issues.

“Regulatory issues, particularly at the state and local level, are of extreme importance to our members and to the broader sign industry,” said Lori Anderson, president and CEO of ISA. “This video series is just another way in which we are committed to educating planners and providing resources to our member companies to help them convey the importance of signs to their communities.”
