Customers have high expectations when it comes to the new Océ Colorado 1640 wide format printer, powered by Canon UVgel technology. One of those expectations is to deliver significant ink utilization savings. To prove that the Océ Colorado 1640 printer can deliver on this expectation, Canon Solutions America partnered with Buyers Laboratories Inc. (BLI) to measure the actual ink usage across three printing technologies.
The tests evaluated ink consumption of three 64-inch wide format devices – the Océ Colorado 1640 printer, Roland’s seven-color eco-solvent ink SOLJET EJ-640, and HP’s six-color latex ink Latex 570. The tests were performed on identical media and equivalent print settings for all three printers, each using supplier-provided print profiles and supplier-recommended print speed modes.
The evaluation included printing two test files (Onyx and Ink Consumption) twice on each device on Avery Dennison® MPI 2000 media. A third banner test file was printed twice on each device on Starflex SFF-155 banner media. Test results, which were verified by BLI, revealed that the Océ Colorado 1640 printer delivers, on average, 30-50% savings on ink usage versus these competitive printers.
The Océ Colorado 1640 printer, powered by Canon UVgel technology is the choice for print providers that demand production efficiency, reduced operating costs, and verified ink consumption savings.
