Some of the record-breaking numbers include a six percent increase in overall attendees, with 3,600 people roaming the exhibit hall for the two-day show. Exhibitors reported that attendees were high-quality decision-makers from a broad variety of end-user business categories. This category was up 2.4% from last year.“This year’s show provided a great platform for us to discuss our SuperSign digital signage solutions with our target audience," said Jeff Dowell, vice president of Digital Signage for LG Electronics, USA. “Valuable relationships are built at DSE that not only provide LG with critical insights into the industry, but also ensure that we are providing our customers with the best products and technologies available.”
DSE also had its largest educational conference, with 166 educational opportunities, including the Live Installation Tour, 55 conference seminars, 66 lunch and learn roundtable sessions, 30 on-floor workshops, and 14 content theater presentations. “DSE has always placed a strong emphasis on education as the most effective catalyst for industry growth,” said Chris Gibbs, president of Atlanta-based Exponation, LLC, which produces Digital Signage Expo. “2011 saw an aggressive expansion of our educational offerings and the industry responded with the largest growth in conference registration in our history – up 37.5%!”
Some of the highlights on the show floor included Intel’s Adidas Virtual Footwear Wall, which used an interactive touch screen wall that enabled users to interact with adidas footwear using gesture technologies and precision real-time, 3D-rendered products.
Lumimo, LLC showcased its LEDUBE—LED Brick Display. The visual expression system uses 40mm LED bricks stacked to build display objects with physical 3D display surfaces, such as exhibit booths and video walls.
LG stopped traffic in the aisles with its new Transparent LCD and Mirror LCD displays. Both displays are in the prototype stage.
“We believe that 2011 is a milestone both for DSE and our industry,” said Gibbs. “The growth DSE is experiencing not only reflects the vitality of our industry, but also represents another important step in its maturation and broad acceptance. This evolution is also evident on the trade show floor as exhibitors raise the bar with larger booths, more complex displays, and a greater variety of technology.”
Over 70% of the show floor for next year is already booked, so be sure to sign up for DSE 2012 in Las Vegas, Nevada, March 6-9, 2012.
