A New Flute Cutter Hits the Stage!

Kennesaw, Georgia—A flute cutter is not something that destroys musical instruments. It’s a knife that uses a prong as a guide to cut along the flute, tube, or corrugate of a sheet of material.
The Saw Trax Coro-Claw™ flute cutter is designed to cut 4-mil corrugated PVC sheets, the most common size of this type of material.
Michael Della Polla, a Saw Trax spokesman, said, “The ergonomically shape of the handle takes the strain off of your wrist and forearm. Because of the angle of the blade, the larger muscles of your back and shoulder are used to pull the knife through the material.
Besides being beefier than their earlier prototype, Saw Trax has been able to bring the price of the Coro-Claw to market at a list price of $11.95 – approximately half the price of its competing flute cutter.
Not only does the Coro-Claw cut through corrugated PVC (using its inside prong), it can also score cut PVC. Score cutting involves cutting one layer of the PVC. Scoring can be use to create an outside bend in the material. If two score cuts are made side by side, the center section can be cut out to make an inside bend. This takes three passes instead of one but makes a much neater, rounded outside corner.
A demonstration video is available on the Saw Trax website at www.sawtrax.com.
