IKONICS Honors Passing of Key Employee, Mark Dailey, with Establishment of Scholarship

Duluth, Minnesota—IKONICS Corporation, the Duluth-based imaging technology company, marked the passing of Mark Dailey, June 21, 2009 with the establishment of the Mark Dailey Memorial Scholarship at the University of Wisconsin-Stout, where Mark studied graphic design management. The scholarship will be offered to UW-Stout juniors and seniors in the Graphic Arts Management major with demonstrated passion for and persistence in pursuing the graphic arts, particularly screen printing.

Mark served IKONICS’ Chromaline Screen Print Products division as Technical Sales Representative for sixteen years, anchoring that division’s sales group in the adoption of new technology, distribution management, and technical sales. According to Mike Skrbich, North American Sales Manager for Chromaline, “Mark was unique in terms of his passion, intellect, experience, and relationship building abilities.”

“Mark’s legacy will be lived out in the numerous relationships he fostered, nurtured and kept throughout the industry,” Skrbich noted. “We were fortunate to have Mark representing Chromaline while also pursuing and following his own personal values and work ethic. Mark was a class act, a friend, mentor, and always the voice of reason. Mark selflessly thought of those around him and always had regard for all.”

Mark initiated his career with IKONICS, then known as The Chromaline Corporation, in 1993 after years of owning his own screen printing business, The Dailey Press, in Superior, WI. During his tenure with the company, Mark saw the industry evolve to an increasingly technical business; Mark specialized in keeping abreast of—or ahead of—the quickly changing technology. IKONICS President and CEO, Bill Ulland, had sincere praise for Mark in that regard.

“Mark was a technologist, at heart,” Ulland said. “He was passionate about continually learning the most recent and emerging technologies. In this, Mark became a leader among his peers and colleagues. This, along with his good humor, wit and strong work ethic provided the foundation for the relationships Mark was able to maintain over the years and throughout the industry. He will be missed by many.”
