USSC Announces Executive Transition
Bristol, Pennsylvania—At the United States Sign Council (USSC) Board of Directors meeting on March 6, Andy Bertucci announced his decision to retire as executive director of the Council, a position he has held since the founding of the USSC, in favor of a role requiring less involvement with day-to-day management activities. He will, however, continue to direct the work of the USSC Foundation, whose production of over fifteen major research studies and standards applications has significantly impacted positive results for the industry.
Nancy Maren, currently serving USSC in a number of executive positions involving member resources and communication, financial management, and tradeshow planning and registration, has assumed the executive director position.
Both Bertucci and Maren have been instrumental in organizing and directing the USSC since its founding as a national sign industry trade association in 1995. Their management has seen the USSC grow from a relatively small eastern regional base into the dominant industry force for on-premise sign education and academic research that it has become today.
Maren is a graduate, summa cum laude, of the College of New Jersey with a degree in Psychology. She is past president of the Bristol Cultural and Historical Foundation, an avid quilter, and has traveled extensively in the Americas, Europe, and Asia.
Most importantly, she brings to the executive director position at USSC a wealth of experience and proven expertise in the sign industry, beginning her career in 1974 as an administrative assistant with the Delaware Valley Sign Association followedby varying executive services of increasing responsibility to the New Jersey Sign Association, the New York State Sign Association, the Eastern States Sign Council, and, of course, the USSC since 1995.
