Disney Uploads Tron Wrap
Orlando, Florida—Tron Legacy, the sequel to the cult 1982 Walt Disney film that combined early computer graphics with a videogame-influenced storyline, hits theaters this December, but the Walt Disney World Resort® in Florida is already in full-byte promotion. It has wrapped Monorails servicing the EPCOT theme park with graphics advertising the highly anticipated movie.
The 200-foot-long, see-thru wraps feature blue and yellow “light cycles” on both sides of the train cars leaving behind a digital light trail with the Tron name displayed in their wake. This is the first time in its nearly forty-year history that the Walt Disney World Resort has featured advertising of any kind on its Monorails.
Although many fans anticipating the sequel are raving about the wraps, the Orlando Sentinel reports that some Disney purists are getting their "mouse ears" in a knot online over the campaign. They are comparing the graphics to “common bus wraps” and asking: “What’s next, billboards on Cinderella’s castle?”
