Road Rage Designs Expands Services with New HP DesignJet 10000s

Spring Grove, Illinois—Road Rage Designs, a fleet lettering, vehicle wrap, and wide format graphics provider, has purchased a new HP DesignJet 10000s—a super-wide durable signage printer—from Grimco Inc. “Our team is excited to have the large format printer capabilities the HP DesignJet 10000s will provide us,” said Mike Grillo, owner of Road Rage Designs. “We are growing rapidly, and the new printer will allow us to provide expanded services such as building wraps to our clients.”

Road Rage purchased another new printer in 2007 and will add the HP DesignJet 10000s and a new banner welder in 2008. In October 2007, Road Rage installed more vehicle wraps in one month than in all of 2006. “Road Rage has experienced tremendous growth, and with our new printer and banner welder, we will offer a full menu of services to our clients,” said Kris Harris, Road Rage’s chief designer. “Our signage is in the Allstate Arena, Durty Nellies and Blarney Island, and we’ve installed wraps on thousands of vehicles—from ambulances to business fleets, boats to helicopters.”

The HP DesignJet 10000s super-wide printer accomodates media up to 104 inches wide. Oversized signs and banners for exterior signage and building wraps, at 104 inches, easily catch the attention of consumers. Building wraps have been called the billboards of the future, and with advances in digitally printable pressure-sensitive vinyl and window perforation films, wraps have become popular advertising vehicles in America’s biggest cities.

According to the Outdoor Advertising Association of America, Inc. (OAAA), outdoor advertising is the second fastest growing form of advertising behind the Internet. The OAAA estimates that outdoor advertising will be a $10 billion business within the next five years. In the United States, billboards still account for the largest chunk of outdoor signage at 64 percent, according to OAAA. Building wraps are the second largest slice of the outdoor market at 17 percent, followed by transit applications at 12 percent.
