Shedding New Light on LED Billboard Selection

Milwaukee, Wisconsin—Adaptive Micro Systems LLC, has announced the availability of two new technical white papers designed to give prospective customers greater insight into effectively evaluating LED billboard options.

One of the technical articles, entitled “Debunking ‘Brightness’ Myths,” takes a critical examination of contrast and the vital role it plays in overall sign visibility relative to LED brightness. The other article, “Debunking the ‘More is Better’ Mindset,” evaluates the pros and cons of three-LED systems versus five-LED systems.

“In both cases, you gain a real appreciation for just how deceiving individual specifications can be in judging a board’s overall quality, performance and value,” says Chris Olinger, Director of Billboard Sales at Adaptive Micro Systems. “For example, you would think a display that lists a higher light output and features five LEDs versus three LEDs, would be a better choice. But as long as a display is engineered to achieve sufficient contrast, the three-LED display can be every bit as vibrant and visible to the eye as a board using five LEDs.” In fact, the lighting characteristics of Adaptive’s three- LED display offer wider viewing angles for improved readership opportunities. At the same time, the three-LED display consumes far less power, cutting costs and preserving and prolonging the life of board components.

Adaptive’s latest technical papers can be obtained by calling 414/357-2020 or by visiting www.adaptivedisplays.com. They can be found in the Learning Center section of the site under the Documentation & Manuals sub-menu. ”If you are considering purchasing digital billboards and want to optimize your investment, you owe it to yourself to find out all you can about the technology,” adds Olinger. “The information in these papers could save you money and offer competitive advantages you should be aware of, before you buy.”
