Quality Sign’s LED Retrofitting Program Leads Company’s “Green” Offering
Jacksonville, Florida—Retrofitting existing exterior signage with LED lighting technology is not only environmentally friendly, it can almost immediately reduce energy costs which is more important than ever in today’s economic climate. Quality Sign Company, a national sign engineering and manufacturing company, recently introduced its sign-retrofitting program to help customers achieve cost savings and reduce environmental impact.
Use of LED lights, which are powered by 12 volts instead of 110 volts, provide significant reductions in carbon footprint, estimated energy savings between 60 and 80 percent, and an average two-year return on investment. As well, the increased “lifespan” of LED lights minimizes service frequency and maintenance requirements of the signs over the long term.
“Many companies are implementing LED lighting in new or replacement signs but any existing sign can be retrofitted with LED lights on site within a few days,” explained Roger Williams, CEO of Quality Sign Company. “Retrofitting signs is a cost-effective way to lower energy and maintenance costs, especially for companies with multiple office or retail locations that may not have the budget for or need new signs.”
For customers who do wish to commission brand-new “green” signs, Quality Sign Company is the only sign manufacturer in the country currently creating double-faced, LED illuminated pylon signs using new lighting technology from GE. Recently, the company partnered with 7-Eleven, one of the world’s largest convenience store chains, to manufacture green, LED-lit signage for all of its new stores across the country.
Quality Sign Company is a major advocate for green initiatives as environmentally friendly and cost-effective alternatives. It is one of a select few sign companies in the country to offer LED technology in all of its products. In addition to the environmentally friendly LED lights, Quality Sign Company offers products featuring eco-friendly, low volatile organic compound (VOC) paint, with the safest VOC levels available. The company also practices responsible disposal and recycling techniques.
Some local or state government agencies may provide financial aid to companies for LED retrofits through the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant (EECBG) program administered by the U.S. Department of Energy. The program, being funded through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, provides funds to local and state governments to develop and implement projects to improve energy efficiency and reduce energy use in communities.
