Optrex to Feature Many Products at SID Week

Optrex-Shark
Optrex-SharkLCD designer and manufacturer Optrex Corp., Tokyo, Japan, and its sales and marketing channel in the Americas, Optrex America, Inc., will be featuring innovative new display technologies along with one of the broadest LCD product lines in the industry, at the SID (Society for Information Display) Display Week Conference & Exhibition, May 17-19, Los Angeles Convention Center, in Booth 1435.

During SID week, Optrex will be demonstrating a variety of its LED-backlit TFT LCDs that range in size from 2.0 to 19.2 inches diagonal. Optrex offers LED-backlit LCDs with standard brightness (500-700 cd/m2) and HBLED-backlit TFT LCDs with high brightness (1000-1500 cd/m2), including a 15-inch diagonal HBLED-backlit LCD @ 1500 cd/m2. Most of the LED-backlit TFT LCDs have a long lifetime of 100K hours. That is equal to 11 years of 24/7 operation.

Optrex will also be featuring its unique capacitive touch technology, which provides outstanding clarity and simplified design. The touch layer is optically bonded to the display, avoids air gaps, and provides a high transparency and excellent visibility even in outdoor light. It is a very robust design with lifetime of approximately 100 million touches. It can be fingertip controlled even with gloves on.  For customers who have already chosen their display, Optrex offers the touch screen as a value-added add-on.

Also on display will be the new 6.5-inch VGA and 5.7” VGA TFT LCDs featuring the LVDS (low-voltage differential swing) interface. The LVDS interface reduces the amount of voltage swing, which dramatically improves the EMI performance of the display. Plus, the standard LVDS interface enables easy integration into the customer’s system design. Both panels are designed for industrial applications that require high optical performance and robust design.

Optrex will also be demonstrating its TFT LCDs with Super Wide View (SWV) Technology. Super Wide View solves the color shifting problems inherent in traditional twisted nematic (TN) and vertical alignment (VA) type displays. This new technology is currently available in panel sizes of 5 inches, 9 inches and 15 inches diagonal.

Optrex will also demonstrate how its new Advanced Black Nematic (ABN) technology achieves super high contrast ratios, wide viewing angles, and no color shifting from off-angles. This technology outperforms vacuum florescent displays (VFDs), and provides an ideal solution when a high performance passive LCD is needed.

Other special products that Optrex will bring to Display Week include: a 19.2-inch diagonal triple wide (1920 x 360) display, new 8-inch diagonal WVGA display for industrial applications, and TFT displays with glass bonding from the factory for outdoor applications. The glass bonding, also called optical bonding, has been developed to eliminate air gaps.
