New Appointments: July 2011-II

Acrilex, Inc. has opened a new distribution center in Charlotte, North Carolina. The branch provides convenient access to Acrilex products for the Southeast region, and it was opened in response to manufacturers who wanted to use Acrilex’s acrylic sheets without having to pay high freight costs. The new facility will also offer value-added fabrication services.

ILFORD has added Paul Willems as CEO and director of Global Sales. Recent expansions to the ILFORD global distribution network have positioned the company to pursue new markets and expand market share. With the addition of Willems, ILFORD can continue to explore new avenues for international growth. Willems previously served as CEO at GMGcolor, he was a former McKinsey & Company consultant, and he held diverse executive positions with graphic arts and digital printing industry companies.

Mutoh America Inc. has hired Mike Arias as western regional sales engineer. Arias will be responsible for product training for Mutoh dealers; maintaining equipment in the Torrance, California office demo room; and working with the regional sales manager to implement trade shows, open houses, and customer demonstrations. Arias previously served as western regional service manager at GEI Calgraph, and also held positions at Roland DGA and Océ.

Roland DGA Corp. has announced several appointments to its product management and marketing teams. Andrew Oransky has been promoted to director of Marketing and Product Management. He will continue to direct product management and take on the new responsibility of overseeing the company’s marketing, communications, and strategic planning. Hiroshi Ono has been appointed group product manager for specialized products. He will assist with driving Roland’s vertical market solutions, including packaging, engraving, and product personalization. David Hawkes has been hired as the group product manager for sign and textile printing, and he will be responsible for inkjet printers, cutters, supplies, and accessories, as well as the Roland DGA online store. Steven Tu is now Color Workflow specialist for UV and metallic ink printers. He is now responsible for the development of workflows to process complex files that take of advantage of Roland’s special technologies in metallic and UV printing. Eric Zimmerman has been promoted to product manager for color products, including Roland’s line of inkjet printers and printer/cutters. Brian Brooks joins Roland as product manager for 3D milling and scanning products, and he is responsible for a number of the company’s machines. Patti Juric has been appointed copywriter/PR supervisor. She will oversee the company’s copywriting and public relations functions, including social media, Web content development, e-newsletters, and email blasts.

Trans-Lux Corporation has appointed Mike Sheets as vice president and general manager. Sheets will focus on dealer priorities, maintaining quality, and achieving on-time delivery at the Trans-Lux/Fair-Play manufacturing facility in Des Moines, Iowa. He brings 30 years of manufacturing experience in operations and continuous improvement methodologies to the position.
