The ISA International Sign Expo 2012 is taking place March 21-24 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida. We’re presenting information here about some of the products that will be showcased on the exhibit hall floor. Entries that originally appeared in print in our March 2012 issue are featured here in fuller write-ups. Meanwhile new entries that arrived past our press deadline are highlighted in blue. Arlon: Booth #2036

Arlon Graphics offers several new digital removable and wall wraps films for interior and exterior use. The removable products include DPF 4300, DPF 206, and DPF 50WD Clear and White. In addition to these new products, Arlon will have daily vehicle wrap and wall wrap demos going on throughout the show. Eight concrete columns will also be wrapped all over the show floor with DPF 8000 and DPF 6700, which is used for exterior surfaces such as brick, stucco, and concrete. (www.arlon.com)

ArtCAM: Booth #302

Delcam has launched ArtCAM Insignia 2011 R2, a new introductory 3D modeling package that allows sign makers to go beyond 2D signage with 3D modeling functionality. The sign maker can either import a pre-created 3D model into the software or instantly transform their vector artwork into 3D shapes with some of ArtCAM Insignia’s shape creation tools. The tools include Shape Editor, which can determine a shape’s profile, angle, and height, and also how the shape is combined with any 3D relief that has already been created. The Two-Rail Sweep tool allows for the selection of multiple vectors for the edges of a shape and any number of cross sections for chosen positions to create a 3D sweep shape or a swept surface. The CSI-300 series, the company’s benchmark post and panel line, includes three-inch depth and three post designs (square, half round, and beveled). The CSI-600 series features the same post designs with six-inch depth and an option for back lighting. Both series are fabricated from extruded aluminum and have slide-in removable panels that allow for easy sign maintenance. Epson will be showcasing its new SureColor S30670 printer, which delivers an unparalleled combination of value, quality, and performance to the signage, vehicle graphics, and fine art markets. The SureColor S30670 is a four-color (CMYK), solvent-based printer that introduces Epson‚s new UltraChrome GS2 and UltraChrome GSX solvent-based ink technologies. These revolutionary inks are capable of using up to ten colors˜including an optional high-density White and true Metallic, as well as Light Black for improved grayscale and reduced metamerism. Fisher Textiles introduces several new fabrics. The 1010 Element is an awning fabric for dye sublimation and UV printing. Available in 60 inches 8.5 oz/yd2, it is very sturdy and whiter than other awning fabrics. It is ideal for street pole banners, and it has been tested in accordance with several AATCC test methods for water repellency. Fisher’s other new fabric is GF 7110 X-Out. At 110 inches wide and 6.7 oz/yd2, it is comparable to the GF 4100 Sheeting fabric, except GF 7110 can be sublimated. The base fabric is polyester with viscose/rayon flocking. It is FR, passes NFPA 701, and is formaldehyde free. Applications include block-out liner and opaque, single-sided banners. (www.fishertextiles.com)

HP: Booth #420

Hewlett-Packard (HP) is exhibiting its large format sign and display solutions, demonstrating the 61-inch HP Designjet L26500 and 104-inch HP Designjet L28500 Printers, HP’s newest Latex Ink solutions, for the first time in the U.S. Capable of handling a broader range of indoor and outdoor signage applications with better durability than eco-solvent inks, both systems feature new HP 792 Latex Designjet Inks, providing a consistent performance across a variety of substrates. HP is also showcasing its newest UV-curable solutions—the HP Scitex FB7600 Industrial Press, with new HP FB225 Scitex Inks, offering workflow improvements for increased productivity and versatility; for the high-volume market, HP displays the 16.6-foot HP Scitex XP5500 and 10.5-foot HP Scitex XP2500 Industrial Printers, printing at industry-leading speeds. MACtac® Graphic Products has expanded its MACmark® line to include three new adhesive-backed vinyls designed for creating unique window decorations and functional applications. MACmark Glass Décor 600 is a transparent indoor film featuring four designer, printed styles suited for interior glass surfaces. It has a durability of five years. MACmark Glass Décor 700 is a translucent, high-performance indoor and outdoor film with outdoor durability of five years. The material is ideal for the decoration of windows and glass décor for an etched, frosted, or sandblasted effect. Mimaki announces the arrival of its newest printer, the TS34-1800A transfer sublimation printer. The TS34-1800A prints in either four or six-color configurations with a maximum print speed of 344 square feet/hour in four-color mode. Its staggered printhead array allows for productivity to be vastly improved. The TS34-1800A also uses Mimaki’s Uninterrupted Ink Supply System (UISS), which automatically switches to the new cartridge when the first cartridge is almost empty to allow for continuous, unattended operation.
