MaxLite_LEDAreaLightsContinuing to expand its line of energy efficient lighting for outdoor applications, MaxLite® has introduced new DesignLights™ Consortium (DLC) approved LED Area Lights for the commercial and industrial market, in 70-, 100- and 140-watt models. MaxLite designed the new LED Area Lights, which are replacements for up to 400-watt metal halide and high-pressure sodium outdoor lighting fixtures and now join the MaxLED® family of flood lights, offered in the same wattages.

“We are very pleased to continue to expand our outdoor flood light line with our high-value engineered area lights,” said Pat Treadway, Director of Product Marketing for MaxLite. “These fixtures can be used for either area or pedestrian lighting applications, and all three wattages incorporate our patent pending optic/thermal transfer technology. The combination light collimator and thermal transfer technique creates highly controlled beam types, while increasing life and performance through effective thermal transfer away from the LEDs.”

Highlighted in MaxLite’s award-winning MaxLED line of innovative LED luminaires and lamps using state-of-the-art LED technology, the LED Area Lights operate with a universal driver on electrical systems ranging from 120 to 277 volts, and have a long life of 50,000 hours (at L70 standards). All fixtures are available in 5000K (daylight) correlated color temperature (CCT) and offer a full cutoff classification in a Type V distribution.

  • Designed as an energy saving replacement for 250-watt metal halide fixtures, the 70-watt LED Area Light provides a 67 color rendering index (CRI), while delivering 4141 lumens, and offers an efficacy of 68 lumens per watt.
  • The 100-watt LED Area Light is an energy saving replacement for 320-watt metal halide fixtures. The fixture offers a 68 CRI while delivering 6963 lumens, and an efficacy of 68 lumens per watt.
  • The 140-watt LED Area Light is designed to replace 400-watt metal halide fixtures and offers a CRI of 73, while delivering 8400 lumens and provides an efficacy of 60.

The LED Area Lights have a standard 6-inch fixture arm or an optional 12-inch arm. The crisp white light is enhanced with the black ceramic frit mask on tempered glass that reduces glare and improves the overall appearance. The LED module is copper plated to provide a high thermal transfer rate, minimizing the LEDs’ junction temperature to maximize service life. The fixture is constructed with LM-80 rated LEDs that are proprietary binned for uniform color consistency and quality.

Finished in dark bronze, the heavy-duty cast aluminum one-piece housing is polyester powder coated to ensure protection from rust and corrosion, and sealed with a hinged door and a tempered glass lens to keep out dirt, water and insects. The fixtures are also available in a white finish.

Compatible with mechanical relay type photo cells and occupancy sensors, the highly durable LED Area Lights operate in any outdoor environment at temperatures ranging from -30°F to 130°F. The fixtures are 16.5 inches long, 16.5 inches wide and 7.5 inches tall.

The LED Area Lights are IES B4/U0/G0 (BUG) rated, ETL-, cETL- and FCC-certified, RoHS compliant and constructed without hazardous materials. LM-79 and LM-80 data is available, along with IES files and photometrics. The fixtures are backed by MaxLite’s five-year limited warranty.
