Panasonic Lighting Americas Recognized in Luminaires Competition

Panasonic Lighting Americas, Inc. (a member of the Panasonic Group) has been acknowledged by the Illuminating Engineering Society (IES) of North America for their Panasonic Projection Lighting SpacePlayer™, a product marketed through Universal Lighting Technologies, the North American lighting division of Panasonic Lighting Americas.

The IES Progress Committee, which monitors advancements in the lighting industry, has recognized the Panasonic SpacePlayer as one of the most innovative products during the prestigious sixth annual Next Generation Luminaires™ (NGL) Indoor Competition.

The Panasonic SpacePlayer encompasses several key lighting elements from both conventional and LED technology to produce a product that is the best of both worlds. In addition to traditional light distribution and dimming qualities, the new projection lighting system offers color-rendering properties (CRI), brightness and glare control, tuneable light color and phosphor technology, all wrapped in a new and visually appealing package.

“Panasonic is committed to staying ahead of the ever-evolving market and maintaining a reputation for providing the best high-efficiency lighting solutions out there,” said Chris Holstein, vice president of marketing at Universal. “As a company, we’re honored that our hard work and dedication has resulted in this recognition.”

The contest is designed to encourage technical advancements as well as recognize and promote excellence in the design of energy-efficient LED luminaires for commercial, industrial and institutional applications. Luminaires are critiqued on the manufacturers’ ability to develop a product that is not only innovative, aesthetically pleasing and energy efficient but also exhibits high lighting quality, consistency, glare control and lumen maintenance.

The fifty-seven products recognized during the 2014 NGL competition demonstrate the diversity of the solid-state lighting (SSL) market and help lighting designers and specifiers find top-of-the-line LED lighting products.
