Canon Solutions America Executive Featured in Women Influencers Cover Story

In 1998, Ms. Belli was asked by Canon to start up a division that would cater to large, enterprise clients that would not only want to use more complex technologies to support their critical workflows, but they would also want someone to manage these sophisticated environments for them.

The article makes clear Ms. Belli’s business savvy and her track record for innovation in the managed services landscape even as one of the only women at the table. Known for her “call it what it is” persona, she shares the advice she gives her teams when hiring diverse talent: “I want your team to look like the street,'” said Belli. “I think that it’s important to have that perspective. You have to look like your environment and society. You can’t be biased or you’ll miss out on the possibilities.”

Belli goes on to say, “Simply put, women are counting the women on the other side of the table. If your company doesn’t have women that counts against you because your clients are very diverse, and they are going to take that into account when considering you.”

The article goes on to highlight the “One Canon” business strategy that Ms. Belli’s team has played an integral part in bringing to fruition. She describes how the Enterprise Managed Services Division was able to successfully introduce the University of Notre Dame to other Canon entities that would be valuable to the school, while furthering their understanding of Canon’s capabilities. Although her group is not directly compensated on business she generates for other groups within Canon, Ms. Belli sees the “deeper relationship” as exactly what Canon is always hoping to achieve with its clients.

“Valerie is a forward-thinking and spirited game changer who embodies a unique combination of authenticity, confidence, intelligence and creativity. We admire her for pushing traditional boundaries and forging a career marked by tremendous innovation, dedication and success, and celebrate her achievements at Canon Solutions America that are helping reshape the future of the managed services and imaging industry. It is an honor to shine a light on Valerie as one of our 2017 Women Influencers,” said CJ Cannata, EVP and publisher, The Cannata Report.
