LIGHTFAIR 2015 Conference Introduces New Forum & Course Lengths

LIGHTFAIR® International (LFI®) will introduce the LFI Controls & Connectivity Forum and a host of Conference advancements as a part of the world’s largest annual architectural and commercial lighting trade show and conference, which will take place in New York May 3-7, 2015 (Trade Show: May 5-7; Pre-Conference LIGHTFAIR Institute®: May 3-4; Conference: May 5-7).

For 2015, the LIGHTFAIR Conference continues as the global stage for innovative knowledge and ideas of the future. Experts from around the world lead courses on the most cutting-edge topics in lighting and design. The 2015 program features more than 130 speakers from diverse disciplines selected to cover a broad spectrum of educational topics. There are seventy-eight course offerings all connected to the central theme of integrated design. The focus areas/tracks are inspiration, applications research, technology & tools, and methodology.

The new LFI Controls & Connectivity Forum will take place on Wednesday, May 6 and it will cover current and near-future research with case studies that showcase best practices for the present and future. This educational experience includes five ninety-minute seminars led by subject matter experts. Topics covered are lighting and shading controls, zero net energy, building automation, Industrial Internet of Things convergence, intelligent and integrated buildings, sensory networks, digital addressability, wireless technology, software and more.

In-demand shorter-length educational offerings will also make their debut at LFI 2015. Attendees can add sixty-minute sessions and thirty-minute Power Lunches to enhance their learning experience at LIGHTFAIR. The twelve one-hour sessions May 5-7 cover topics such as: design, smart buildings, art lighting, infrastructure, urban installations, color rendition metric, marketing, LEED v4, retail lighting, sustainable lighting strategy, and LEDs. The two half-hour Power Lunch options on May 6 offer a condensed version of upcoming Conference courses on controls and LEDs.

The LIGHTFAIR 2015 Conference provides knowledge and perspectives on how a collaborative, multidisciplinary approach can improve design outcomes for the betterment of the human experience through four focus areas/tracks:

+ Inspiration Rule-breakers, trailblazers and visionaries dramatically influence our industry. Sessions provide a synthesis of factors from inside and outside of the established lighting community.

+ Applications Research Scientific analysis related to how we interact with the environment around us informs design.

+ Technology & Tools Innovative lighting equipment, software, studies and legislation are introduced every year. Using these elements to shape the design, or enhance and challenge the collaborative process, builds a stronger solution.

+ Methodology Processes using collaborative, interdisciplinary approaches can result in more effective project solutions. Working together and exploring diverse methods can streamline these processes.

The Pre-Conference LIGHTFAIR Institute® and LIGHTFAIR Conference program includes eleven Institute courses, fifteen Institute workshops, twenty-nine seminars, two Conference workshops, five Forum seminars, twelve sixty-minute sessions, two thirty-minute Power Lunches, and two Lunch & Learn seminars—totaling more than 210 hours with AIA, ASLA, BOMI, IDCEC, IEEE, IES, and NCQLP accreditation.
