Getting You There: “EGD in Transit” Webinar October 10

Large-scale transportation projects provide a multitude of design challenges and lessons: complex information systems, maps and nomenclature, customer experience, human factors, and branding just to name a few. In a webinar being held Thursday, October 10, “EGD in Transit,” the principals of two dynamic design firms will share their perspectives on major rail transit projects and how they can inform many other project types.

Andrew Kuzyk and his team at Entro (Toronto) have been engaged in comprehensive signage and environmental graphics programs for GoTransit and Metrolinx throughout Greater Toronto, including a connector rail line from Toronto Pearson Airport to Union Station downtown. Some of their current work for GoTransit, with graphic roots stemming from a ‘60s-era identity, includes unifying the system brand, nomenclature, and typographic system across various transit networks to enhance and harmonize the overall passenger information experience.

Chris Calori, Calori & Vanden-Eynden Design Consultants (New York), has led her firm’s efforts in helping to reshape the physical information systems for both Amtrak’s Acela line along the Northeast Corridor and for the Metropolitan Transit Authority (MTA) in New York City. CV&E’s ongoing work on the Second Avenue Subway extension as well as recent work for the Long Island Railroad (LIRR) is part of the Herculean effort to plan for the future of urban and regional transit in the New York Metropolitan area.

Join Andrew and Chris as they focus on the big-picture planning and logistical objectives involved in transit projects, and learn how their insights can inform your next project!

The webinar will start at 2 p.m. EST Thursday, October 11.
