Kitchener Memorial Auditorium to Showcase Daktronics Technology

Daktronics Inc. of Brookings, S.D., has partnered with the Kitchener Rangers of Kitchener, Ontario, to revamp their arena displays and bring a new look to Rangers home hockey games. The Rangers will receive a super-system that will headline with a centerhung display featuring top and middle mounted rings as well as corner displays. In addition, the Kitchener Memorial Auditorium Complex, commonly known as "The Aud," will also receive one auxiliary seating video display and two ribbon displays. Installation is scheduled for mid to late summer and the new display is set to debut on Friday, September 26 at the home opener of the Kitchener Rangers' 2014-15 season.

"The Kitchener Rangers Hockey Club has always been committed to providing our fans with the best possible game-day experience. With the help of Daktronics, we are confident that our upgraded system will provide Rangers supporters with memorable and exciting in-game video production," said Adam Bramhill, manager of game and retail operations for the Rangers.

The four main video displays of the centerhung system will each be approximately 8 feet high-by-14.5 feet wide. The top ring of the video display will be approximately 2 feet high-by-91.5 feet wide while the middle ring will be approximately 3 feet high-by-89 feet wide. The centerhung will incorporate four corner displays to give the video display a 360 degree look. Each corner display will be approximately 8 feet high-by-3 feet wide. All of the displays featured in the centerhung will incorporate 10 millimeter line spacing.

The Rangers will also be installing one auxiliary seating video display that will be approximately 7 feet high by 10 feet wide and will feature 6 millimeter line spacing. To add extra effect and more visual appeal, the Rangers have also decided to install two ribbon displays that will be featured on both sides of the arena. The east ribbon display is 2 feet high-by-193.5 feet wide, while the west ribbon display is 2 feet high-by-129.5 feet wide and each will feature 15 millimeter line spacing.

The Kitchener Memorial Auditorium will also receive a full video production system along with scoring; this system will allow the facility to control multiple camera angles, while also providing instant replays.

Keeping with the company standards, all of these displays will incorporate excellent image clarity and contrast with wide angle visibility. The main displays will be capable of showing one large image to highlight live video and instant replays. The main displays will also be able to be divided into separate windows to show a variety of vivid graphics, colorful animations, up-to-the minute statistics, scoring information, and sponsor advertisements.

The ribbon displays will be able to provide excellent opportunities to showcase sponsors throughout events and provide up-to-the-minute statistics as well as miscellaneous game information.

"The representatives Steve Bienkowski and Adam Bramhill have been a pleasure to work with through the design and engineering process on a project that is as substantial as this one," said Ryan Stratton, Daktronics sales representative. "The amount of equipment going into Kitchener Memorial Auditorium will change the fan experience, not only for the Rangers, but will also bring the fan experience of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) to a new level. Daktronics is excited to partner with an OHL team and continue our support of the league and further our efforts to provide products to the entire OHL."

Daktronics LED video and messaging display technology offers a long lifetime with minimal maintenance and low power consumption, providing value and excitement for years to come.
