Semi-automatic Screen Coater Applies Emulsions Uniformily

New from Vastex International is a C-1000 Semi-Automatic Screen Coater with foot-pedal control that lowers the screen at a constant rate, allowing a scoop coater to be held still using two hands, producing stencils of greater uniformity than possible using manual methods, according to company president Mark Vasilantone.

A spring-loaded screen holder securely holds wood, aluminum, and retensionable frames from 23 to 36 inches (60 to 90 cm) tall, with no reasonable width limitation. Maximum screen weight is 11 pounds (5 kg).

The steady rate at which the screen travels during the downward coating stroke can be adjusted according to emulsion viscosity, screen mesh, emulsion thickness, and desired output; the unit can coat up to fifty screens per hour, each with three coats of emulsion.

“Allowing the operator to hold still at a comfortable position while the screen descends at a constant rate produces uniform stencils that can prevent blotchy screen exposures and inconsistent ink deposition associated with uneven stencil thickness,” explains Vasilantone. “Screen making is one of the most important elements of a quality print job, and the new C-1000 is perhaps the least costly way that high-capacity industrial screen printers and entry level shops alike can boost quality, cut rejects, and save time.”

The compact design mounts to the wall to free-up floor space, and is available in 110- or 240-volt models.
