MultiCam Introduces Graph-X Cutter

MultiCam Inc., a global CNC cutting system manufacturer, is now offering the new Graph-X-Cutter. “This high-speed CNC finishing system is fast, flexible, and extremely affordable,” said John Harris, director of sales and marketing.

With a maximum cutting speed of 1000 inches per minute, the Graph-X-Cutter also delivers 2100 IPM maximum rapid traverse. This fully equipped cutter features both high-speed routing and heavy-duty tangential knife cutting capabilities. An integrated one-inch phenolic vacuum table is standard and the optional MultiVision digital registration allows for correction of image skew and drift. All axes have Teknics brushless ac servo drives. The Graph-X-Cutter comes in four models with working areas of 50 inches-by-50 inches to 80 inches-by-120 inches.

New Appointments: January 2013-II

Global Garage has hired Kevin Giefer as its new Parts and Printhead Technician. He will be responsible for providing technical assistance in cleaning, refurbishing, testing, assembling, and restoring printheads and other parts for grand format printers, as well as overseeing and managing inventory storage, labeling, and shipping. Giefer’s previous experience combines strong sales and customer relations with the technical expertise and precision required for the job.

MaxLite has appointed Jeffrey Hirsch to manager of Customer Support Group. He will oversee all day-to-day customer service functions, communications, quality control, and technical support for industry professionals. He will also oversee the Product Training department. Hirsch previously worked for Generation Brands, and he brings over twelve years of experience to his new position.

MultiCam has appointed John Wilson as digital finishing product manager. He will oversee the product line’s advancements through sales and application support, training, and ongoing product development. Wilson previously worked at Esko, MGE, and Color Arts.

Nazdar SourceOne has hired Jack Collin as Southeast Region digital consumables specialist. He will be responsible for meeting the needs of new and existing customers with a focus on digital equipment, inks, and media. Collin brings experience in the digital field and a commitment to customer satisfaction to his new position.

Safety Speed Manufacturing announces the retirement of 30-year employee Ruth Ohman. Ohman retired from her duty as Parts and Customer Service representative, where she strived to help customers. Her parts and product expertise allowed Safety Speed to be a more productive and efficient company, while also helping the company to expand. Ohman plans to spend more time on the golf course and with her family.

Sign Effectz, Inc. has hired Sandy Howell as office manager of its Glendale, Wisconsin manufacturing facility. Howell will manage general accounting functions, implement the Human Resources department’s policies and procedures, and handle daily business operations for Sign Effectz and its AFX division. She brings over fifteen years of business management and financial accounting experience to the new position.

Arlon Graphics, LLC has hired Wynsie Chan as director of Product Management. She will be responsible for managing Arlon’s product management team in addition to leading new product development projects. Chan previously held senior management positions in marketing, sales, and international business development for an aftermarket automotive specialty lighting manufacturer and importer.

The Digital Signage Federation (DSF) announces twelve new members: COMMcaddy Network, Elkhound Media, Fly-N-Hog Media Group, ONELAN, Ki-Wi Digital s.r.o., Big Scene Imaging/ Digital Installation Services, NexCom, Marlin Company, iAVi, DynaScan, Jesse Taylor. The new members will enjoy an enhanced portfolio of member benefits, which include new complimentary/discounted access to education resources, promotion of member activities, job postings in the DSF Career Center, and much more.

Far From Normal Supply, Inc., a sign supply and digital printing equipment wholesaler, has opened its fourth location in Wichita, Kansas. The company is a premium dealer for Roland DGA, who encouraged the expansion. The new warehouse enables Far From Normal Supply, Inc. to create a retail-like customer experience by offering next-day delivery of more than 35,000 items throughout Kansas and beyond.

MultiCam Inc. has promoted Tony McGrew to operations manager. He oversees all departments involved in machine design, production, operation, and support. McGrew has been with MultiCam for 16 years and has held several management positions, including most recently as director of technical services and engineering.

Orbus Exhibit & Display Group has opened a new West Coast branch in Las Vegas, NV. Aaron Kozar has been named Vice President of the new branch. Ernesto Vega has also moved to the new branch and will serve as Shipping Supervisor. Miguel Ortega has transferred to the new location, as well, where he will work as Panel Supervisor.

Reflexite Corporation, a manufacturer of reflective materials and energy-saving optical components and films, is now part of the ORAFOL Group. Reflexite will continue to refine and grow its current strategy and will remain an independent entity consolidated into ORAFOL International, Inc., ORAFOL’s U.S. holding company. Following the completion of the transaction, both ORAFOL and Reflexite will provide an enhanced offering to their global customer base as a leading supplier of reflective materials, graphic products, and industrial tapes.

Heat Transfer Warehouse (HTW) has promoted Andy Byzewski to operations manager and international sales leader. Byzewski will oversee the daily responsibilities of packaging, inventory control, and output of completed orders. He will also be responsible for international sales and leading HTW into the worldwide market. Byzewski has over ten years of experience in the decorated apparel and sign supply industry. 

MaxLite has appointed William J. Fenimore to director of Sales, Outdoor Lighting. Fenimore will work with the company’s sales agencies to develop outdoor LED lighting programs for municipalities, DOTs, architects, designers, and specifiers across North America. He will also be involved in the development and design of outdoor lighting fixtures. Prior to joining Maxlite, Fenimore worked for the utility company PSE&G, the Metropolitan Electric League of New Jersey, and Elite Pro Agency.

MultiCam Inc. has appointed Rick Burns to graphic designer. Burns is responsible for designing MultiCam’s Web sites, advertising, print media, and collateral materials. With over fifteen years experience of creating brand value, Burns previously worked for Radio Shack, Argo Data, and EDS. 

The Society for Environmental Graphic Design (SEGD) has named seven new members to its international Board of Directors. Amy Lukas of Infinite Scale is the new board president. The new board members are: Patrick Angelel, principal, CREO Industrial Arts; Sander Baumann, principal, designworkplan; Moira Gemmill, director of design, Victoria & Albert Museum; Dan Moalli, vice president, Design and Production Inc.; Julie Vogel, principal, Kate Keating Associates; Leslie Wolke, principal, Leslie Wolke Consulting; Joe Zenas, CEO, Thinkwell Group.

Signs by Tomorrow (SBT) has hired Ron Frost as franchise business consultant for SBT’s central region. Frost will assist in the growth and development of individual franchisees. Prior to joining SBT, he worked for Gerber Scientific Products, Grimco, and Clarke Systems, and most recently operated an independent signage and graphics business.

New Appointments: June II

LexJet has added five new distribution centers to its nationwide Delivery Network. The new centers are located in Charlotte, Kansas City, Minneapolis, Phoenix, and Portland. They will be fully online, operating, and tied into LexJet's real-time delivery tracking system in July. With these new distribution centers, LexJet products for large format inkjet printing will reach 90 percent of the continental United States and 98 of the top 100 major metropolitan areas with one-day ground delivery. Its 15 distribution center cities can receive same-day delivery within a 30-50 mile radius of those cities.

Lumenpulse Inc.
has appointed Peter D. Karol to executive vice president and general counsel. Karol will oversee all aspects of Lumenpulse’s legal strategy, including business agreements, intellectual property rights, corporate governance, and regulatory management. Karol brings legal and business experience in the LED lighting sector to the position, and he previously worked for companies that included Color Kinetics, Joule, and Lycos. 

Meyda Custom Lighting has expanded the manufacturing facilities at its corporate headquarters in Yorkville, New York. The expansion will improve Meyda’s services with a more efficient operation that offers shorter lead times on its custom lighting fixtures.

MultiCam® Inc. appointed Julio Pierre to application specialist. Pierre brings 20 years of tech support and software training experience to his new position. He has worked with MultiCam since 2004, and prior to that, served as plant manager at Diversified Display Products.

Mutoh America Inc. has hired Tom Testa as the first southeastern regional sales manager in the new Atlanta-area based office. He will be responsible for creating and managing sales in the Southeastern United States, as well as maintaining relationships with Mutoh dealers and customers while increasing brand awareness in the Southeast. Testa previously held marketing and sales positions with companies such as Xerox and Kodak, and even owned and operated his own sign shop.

Poblocki Sign Company has appointed Terry McGushin to president. McGushin will oversee the company’s day-to-day management of operations, as well as steer the overall strategic vision of the firm. He served as vice president and COO of Poblocki, and has an extensive past in sales and marketing for companies such as Harley-Davidson and the Rite-Hite Holding Corporation.

CLEAR FOCUS Imaging has appointed Eric J. Bartosz as Northeast regional sales manager and Deb Liles as Midwest regional sales manager. Both Bartosz and Liles will be responsible for client relationship management, product training, and new business development within their respective regions. Prior to joining CLEAR FOCUS, Bartosz worked as a graphics specialist for xpedx. Liles previously served as vice president of N2Color, LLC and has over 20 years of experience in sales, corporate branding, and strategic planning in the graphics and commercial printing industries.

MultiCam Inc. has appointed Evelyn Welle to marketing communications specialist. Welle will be responsible for MultiCam’s marketing, Web site, editorial, advertising, public relations, and social media. Welle previously worked as copywriter and editor at Specialized Products Company, and has also served as a newsletter, magazine, and book editor.

The Board of Directors of Mutoh Holdings, Ltd., Japan, has appointed Brian Phipps to the Board of Directors of its US subsidiary Mutoh America Inc. Phipps’ new assignment has three main goals: promote Mutoh America’s leading role in the wide-format inkjet printer and professional sign making plotter markets; explore new niche markets; and develop strategic plans to ensure Mutoh’s continued growth in the Americas. Phipps will continue to assume his current functions as general manager of Mutoh America Inc.

Cooley Sign & Awning Products has appointed Value Added Sales as sales representatives for the company in the southeast region of the US. Offering a combined 50-plus years of product knowledge and experience in the sign supply and distribution industries, Value Added Sales has a sales team of three representatives: President Debbie Van Gaale and Territory Managers Bob Ferrell and Chuck Graves.

International Patterns Inc., a forty-three-year-old sign and graphic company in Bay Shore, New York, has named Russ Fragala as vice president of Sales and Marketing. Fragala will be responsible for expanding growth of the company, creating new product lines, and creating partnerships with new dealers and representatives in areas that the company currently doesn't have representation in. He previously worked as COO of IDS Menus.

 

The International Sign Association has hired James Carpentier, AIPC, to join the government relations department as manager of state and local government affairs. Previously, Carpentier owned a consulting firm that managed sign variances and entitlements and worked with state sign associations on legislative issues. Prior to that, he worked as director of government relations for YESCO.

MACtac® and NAZDAR® have teamed up to announce a newly available screen print warranty featuring MACtac’s REBEL™ multi-print media and Nazdar’s 3500 Series Screen ink sets. The joint warranty agreement has been initiated to give screen printers and end-users both complete assurance that finished graphics manufactured by MACtac and printed with Nazdar 3500 Series Screen inks will perform as intended, meeting needed durability requirements and featuring image coloration in its truest form. When paired with Nazdar 3500 Series Screen inks, REBEL’s nearly 100 percent opaque, white face film and clear acrylic adhesive allow the ink sets to truly pop, showcasing ideal coloration for finished graphics that are top-quality.

MultiCam Inc. has appointed Todd Atkinson as south central sales manager. Atkinson has over 20 years of experience in domestic and international machinery sales.

OKI Data Americas has announced a partnership to distribute its new pro920WHT printer through Graphics One, LLC. The pro920WHT tabloid/A3 digital color printer is part of the OKI proColor™ Series and is now available for sale throughout North America.

On December 3, 2011, MultiCam® Inc. Creative Director Mark Allen, 50, passed away. The global CNC cutting system manufacturer’s eight-year employee and talented artist lost his eight-month battle with lung cancer. During this time, he continued to produce amazing work including the 2011 MultiCam greeting card.

“All of us will miss Mark,” said Director of Sales and Marketing John Harris. “He was a great team player, and his creative talent contributed significantly to both our corporate and Technology Center marketing programs.”

Allen had over twenty-five years of graphic design experience. Before joining MultiCam in 2003, he worked on Cingular®, Nokia®, 7-Eleven® and MasterCard® interactive and eLearning projects at The Integer Group. For Superior Graphics, he designed Nortel® interactive trade show kiosks. He was an illustrator at the prestigious Johanson & Associates art studio, an animator at the Studios at Las Colinas, and a PressPass comic book illustrator.
