2006 Bill Anderson Charity Classic is a Great Success

St. Paul, Minnesota—The second annual Bill Anderson Charity Classic, held Monday, June 19, at Southview Country Club (St. Paul, MN), was a great success. There were 125 golfers participating (above, first-place team), plus an additional 100 people who attended the dinner. Attendees came from all over the country, representing manufacturers, customers, and family/friends of the Anderson family. The event was a great testament to Bill Anderson (former owner of Midwest), who passed away July 18, 2004, from pancreatic cancer, as a businessman, family man and friend.
Designed to raise awareness and money for two great organizations, PanCAN and CaringBridge, the tournament accomplished both by raising more than $50,000. The monies were raised by sponsorships, flat donations, and those who attended the golf tournament and dinner.
There were also several money-raising events during the event itself, including the sale of mulligans (allowing the golfer to choose one extra shot during their round), a putting contest, and a target hole during the tournament. Raffle tickets were sold for a chance to win one of several donated gifts that ranged from Titelist irons to an i-Pod.
This year an auction was added, featuring several items signed by Minnesota Twins hometown hero (and current batting phenomenon) Joe Mauer and 2004 Hall of Fame inductee Paul Molitor, as well as tickets to the 3M Senior Championship tournament (valued at $320) to be held in August. The auction alone raised $2,325, bringing the grand total from the extra events to $7,990, a $3,525 increase over last year. The monies raised from the extra events will go directly to CaringBridge. To learn more about either of these organizations, please visit www.caringbridge.com or www.pancan.org.

Dinner followed the tournament, with more than two hundred in attendance. The program started with a welcome from Midwest CEO Nancy Peterson Anderson (pictured above), followed by keynote speaker Sona Mehring, founder and director of CaringBridge, who gave a brief description of the organization and the services it provides to families. These services were much appreciated by the Anderson family and friends when Bill battled with pancreatic cancer two years ago.
After the program, Midwest President and C.O.O. Jim Fisher and Vice President—Market Analysis Roger Olson presented the dinner group with a number of seventy-five-dollar gift certificates, awards for various game holes played on the course, and raffle items donated for the event.
The date for next year’s event has been set at June 18, 2007, to be held at Southview Country Club in St. Paul, Minnesota. For additional tournament information, call Lynne Berg, Midwest Sign & Screen, at 800/328-6592 or visit www.midwestsign.com.
