AWP Mgmt. to be Central Theme of IPAF US Convention

Ipaf Logo aIf you manage aerial work platforms (AWPs) on job sites and wish to know what your responsibilities are and how to meet them, attend the IPAF US Convention that will be held on October 22 and 23, 2012 in the Orlando area in Celebration, Florida. The convention will take place at the Bohemian Hotel Celebration, located close to the Lift & Access Showcase & Symposium, the Ritchie Bros. equipment auction and the National Safety Council (NSC) Congress & Expo taking place that same week.

At the IPAF US Convention, Brian Wimer from NIOSH will introduce a new joint venture project with IPAF and Motorola to develop applications with the use of smart phone technology to provide safe use information to users of booms and scissor lifts.

Mike Disser from NES Rentals will discuss the cost of ownership and provide some insights to consider when buying equipment. Ebbe Christensen, president & CEO of ReachMaster, will examine compact machines, also known as spider lifts or atrium lifts, as a growing market segment.

Other speakers include:

+ Attorney Lindsey Gatling, who will examine an AWP accident and the consequences for various parties involved;

+ Lindsey Anderson, editor, Access Lift & Handlers, who will report on the impact of AWP management training on businesses;

+ Teresa Kee, director, Environmental, Health & Safety, NES Rentals, who will look at insurance options; and

+ Attorney Jim White, who will present proactive actions that businesses can take to keep them and others safe.

There will also be a breakout session on mast climbing work platforms (MCWPs) run by Kevin O’Shea from Mastclimbers LLC.
