SGIA Safety Recognition Program Recognizes Eighteen Member Companies’ Safety Efforts

Safety Recognition Program

The Specialty Graphic Imaging Association (SGIA) has announced the eighteen member companies receiving its Annual Safety Recognition Program Award for their safety efforts throughout the 2018 calendar year. Based on a point system, the program rewards participating companies who have scored an 80 or more by completing action items such as bi-monthly safety checks, establishing safety committees, attending safety webinars and more.

SGIA’s Safety Recognition Program promotes awareness among member companies and their staffs of the necessity of ensuring safe working environments in compliance with all applicable state/provincial and national safety laws and standards.

“SGIA’s Safety Recognition Program serves several critical roles as it provides our members easy-to-implement resources that allow them to put a focus on safety and comply with OSHA’s requirements,” said Gary Jones, Director, Environmental, Health, and Safety Affairs, SGIA. “The benefits of participation are significant, as it allows companies to avoid OSHA fines, which just increased again for 2019, and studies have shown that maintaining a safe working environment improves productivity and reduces operating costs.”

The three highest-scoring companies were LEM Products Inc., Image Options, and Beacon Promotions Inc. In addition to the award plaque given to all recipients, they received an Amazon Kindle, $75 Amazon gift card, and $50 Amazon gift card, respectively.

SGIA congratulates these three and the other 2018 Safety Recognition Award recipients:

“Coming to LEM Products Inc., where our business is so closely tied to OSHA and factory safety, I was inspired to make our plant a showplace for safety. We achieved the Safety Recognition Award level in 2016 and 2017, but we still had more work to do,” said Jeff Kulp, Production Supervisor, LEM Products Inc. “Our relocation to a new and larger facility in early 2017 provided the perfect opportunity to practice what we preach. It was not our plan or goal to win an award. Our objective was to provide a safe and secure workplace for our employees. That was our driving motivation.

“The prestige of winning the top score in the SGIA Safety Recognition Program for 2018 is a gratifying affirmation that we achieved our objective and an honored accomplishment. And please be assured we will be continuing our drive for safety continuous improvement throughout 2019 and beyond.”
