SGIA, together with the Academy of Screen Printing Technology (ASPT), is now accepting applications for the 2012 Tom Frecska Student Printing Competition. Entries will be accepted through July 31.
The award is dedicated to the late editor of ScreenPrinting Magazine, and one of the strongest supporters of the screen printing industry. It recognizes superior imaging work from students at the secondary and post-secondary levels.
This year’s competition includes an expanded list of categories that offer additional variety to entrants. Students are encouraged to submit multiple entries, in any of the 24 categories, including: finished garments; heat transfers- textile; posters; decals/pressure sensitive; wooden signs/products; back-lighted signs/displays; and more.
First place winners within each category will receive an Award of Excellence. Two exceptional entries — one from each level — will be chosen from the first place winners to receive a Best of Show Award. Best of Show winners receive a special ASPT Student Achievement Award and a cash prize of $500 to use toward their graphic arts education. Winning submissions will be displayed to industry leaders from around the world at the 2012 SGIA Expo (Las Vegas, October 18–20).
To be eligible, schools must hold an active membership with SGIA, and all entries must be produced during the 2011–2012 school year. Visit SGIA.org for more information, or download the entry form.
