Colter & Peterson Enjoys Sales Success at SGIA Expo

For the second straight year, Colter & Peterson experienced a momentum-filled SGIA Expo. When the three-day event at the Las Vegas Convention Center came to an end on October 24, C&P left the show floor with sales orders in hand, more leads to follow up on, and interest in other areas of the company besides what they brought to the show.

Taking a cue from last year’s show, North America’s largest independent distributor of paper cutters and paper handling equipment focused attention on its large format capabilities last week. As expected, C&P attracted much interest from the audience for the powerful Saber® line of paper cutters and, to a lesser degree, its industry leading Microcut® automated back gauge control systems. But it was one of the high performance Schneider Engineering machines with loading and unloading features and other benefits that made the sales bell start ringing.

“Booth traffic was very busy, especially the first day of the show. SGIA brings together an interesting mix of people and it was about what I expected,” commented company president Bruce Peterson. “We fielded questions about Microcut and people inquired about our large reconditioned paper cutters, ranging in size from 90 inches to 112 inches. Others expressed interest in our parts and service capabilities. What we sold was a jogger system and we wrote an order for a reconditioned 30-inch POLAR cutter from a British Columbia company. When we met them for the first time at last year’s show, they were interested in larger size cutters. Since then, they have determined smaller is what’s better for them and that’s what makes SGIA unique. For us, we are already working on the good number of proposals we brought home.”

Colter & Peterson’s reputation for manufacturing the industry’s most rugged and reliable paper cutters is second to none. Manufactured to ISO-9001 standards and complete with the latest technology, the Saber XXL and Saber X15 Plus series range in size from 65-137 inches. SGIA Expo attendees expressed interest in them since they perform well with solid substrates such as styrene and corrugated plastic sheets. No other cutter can match its precise cut within 1/64th of an inch, and many are equipped with Microcut, which has nearly 35,000 installations worldwide.

Peterson said that since adding two new programs earlier this year, C&P now offers four versions of Microcut. Operator friendly, each automated program memorizes cutting sequences instantly so the backgauge automatically positions itself for an accurate cut every time.
