Daktronics Expands Reliability Testing With Outdoor Test Sites

Daktronics (NASDAQ-DAKT) of Brookings, South Dakota, has taken the first step in expanding the reliability testing of LED display products by collaborating with Q-Lab Corporation, a global provider of material durability testing since 1956. Q-Lab Arizona, an outdoor exposure testing facility that ranks among the largest desert exposure facilities in the world, and Q-Lab Florida, an outdoor exposure testing facility with more specimens on test than any other outdoor weathering facility in the world, began testing Daktronics components for reliability in November 2014.

“Daktronics is always looking for ways to continuously improve our products,” said Shannon Mutschelknaus, lead engineer of Daktronics reliability and laboratory services. “Q-lab’s real world exposure testing is an exciting addition to our research and development portfolio. The testing conducted on-site in Arizona and Florida will supplement our rigorous in-house accelerated life testing to ensure that our products use components that are on the cutting edge of environmental protection and reliability.”

With the industry’s most extensive inventory of testing equipment, Daktronics’ reliability lab is one of a kind in the LED display industry, manned by experienced technicians who thoroughly test all display components and products to ensure quality, durability and performance. This new frontier in testing with Q-Lab builds upon the benefits of the in-house reliability lab and extends the amount of data that will be available to help Daktronics engineers create even better products in the future.

By continuously researching and developing new technologies, Daktronics ensures that the design of each product line is using the latest technology in the industry. This ensures that customers are not only receiving the most robust, efficient products on the market, but also saves the customer money on the total cost of ownership of a display.

Daktronics helps its customers to impact their audiences throughout the world with large format LED video displays, message displays, scoreboards, digital billboards, and control systems in sport, business, and transportation applications. Founded in 1968 as a USA-based manufacturing company, Daktronics has grown into the world leader in audio-visual systems and implementation with offices around the globe.
