SGP logoSustainable Green Printing Partnership (SGP), a non-profit organization providing sustainability certification in the graphic communications industry, has announced major milestones as the organization continues to lead the standard for validating sustainable printing practices. In January SGP appointed Paul Lilienthal, President and Founder of Certified printer Pictura Graphics, Chairman of the Board. Under the leadership of Lilienthal and past Chairperson Marci Kinter, SGP has achieved several notable accomplishments including a 95 percent recertification rate; the gaining of its 25th patron, and the Certification of its 50th facility (Milwaukee, Wisconsin-based apparel decorating company Visual Impressions).

SGP’s success reflects the growing public interest in sustainability as well as the advantages offered by Certification. The organization seeks to build upon this momentum and has identified key goals for the coming months: SGP aims to increase patron involvement and collaborate with more sustainability-minded organizations, thus expanding the size and influence of the Certified community.

“Having been a part of SGP since its inception, I am thrilled by the organization’s growth,” states Paul Lilienthal, Chair, SGP Board. “SGP has proven itself to be the sustainability standard for the graphics communications industry, and I, along with the Board of Directors, look forward to facilitating its continued growth.”

As part of its growth strategy, SGP is hosting webinars, participating in speaking engagements, and expanding outreach efforts with new initiatives and dynamic partnerships through the remainder of 2013.

Most recently, SGP found success with the implementation of its “Take Action” campaign and its partnership with online sustainability awareness community Re-nourish. “Take Action” highlights the many benefits and ROI of Certification and sustainability. The campaign actively encourages printers, print buyers, suppliers, and other members of the graphic communications industry to align with SGP, whether through Certification, patronage, or public preference of SGP Certified printers in a formal procurement policy. SGP’s partnership with Re-nourish furthers the visibility of Certified printers by connecting the communication design community with a list of print facilities committed to sustainable operations.
