Sherwin-Williams Introduces GENESIS Lustral Coating System for the Sign Industry

Sherwin-Williams, through its Product Finishes Division, introduces GENESIS® Lustral™ Coating System, a single-stage 2K urethane that offers sign finishers automotive-grade color, full gloss range, durability, and process efficiency.

With a streamlined mixing ratio, GENESIS Lustral uses two mixing clears and a toner system to produce a full gloss range and vast colors. Formulated with automotive-grade pigments, GENESIS Lustral provides excellent color stability that resists fading and chalking under harsh conditions. A unique, single-packaged, accelerated reducer provides fast dry times while maintaining a long workable pot life.

“Customers will immediately appreciate how GENESIS Lustral can achieve gloss stability across a broad spectrum of cure conditions and, at the same time, dramatically affect throughput, significantly speeding up the process from start to stack-and-ship,” said Scott Crosley, Global Industry Director, Sign Program, Sherwin-Williams. “GENESIS Lustral reduces bake time by as much as 66 percent and eliminates a tacky finish so signs are stackable after a 10-minute cool down and vinyl decals can be applied in a few hours.”

GENESIS Lustral is designed for finished applications in the sign industry, such as channel letter, plyon, large neon, electronic digital, LED-illuminated and wayfinding signs, and scoreboards. It is also a good choice for general industrial applications requiring UV and corrosion resistance.

As a part of the GENESIS product line, GENESIS Lustral offers users fast, accurate color retrieval through the Aurora™ Color System. The online color management solution is preloaded with Pantone®, RAL®, 3M™ vinyl, and many other industry standard colors used in the sign and architectural markets. The Aurora Color System enables users to save, recall and match custom color formulas and make adjustments on site. It is also available through any of more than seventy Sherwin-Williams blending facilities in North America, ensuring color consistency and quick turn around time for every job.

“Aurora Color System gives our customers the power to record and control color themselves,” said Crosley. “These new, innovative color and coating technologies also enable our in-house sign finishing experts to work directly with sign manufacturers to deliver high-quality finished products, and improve efficiency and productivity.”
